Research and Planning

Research and Planning
On this page, I will show how I am researching about magazines and use this page to keep track on what I find. Then, with the research I find, I will develop a plan of my magazine and start to create my front cover and contents page for my school magazine.

First, I began my research by finding 4 school magazines and focused on their front covers and contents page, picking out what they did well and how they could be improved. This is beneficial for me as I can now develop my knowledge for what I need and don't need on my magazine front cover and contents pages.

Here is my Power point on the front cover and contents pages I found...

2)

3)

4)

Here is my questionnaire. With this, I can now ask a selection of children in my school to fill it out and get a general idea of what the pupils want or don't want in my magazine. My questionnaire includes a mixture of simple yet effective open and closed questions which gives the students a chance to express their views and ideas in different ways.

Questionnaire results

Having looked at my results, I believe

Here is my mock up. In this I have tried to create a magazine with stuff I have learned and picked up from other magazines. For example, in one of the school magazines they had a editorial. I thought this was a good idea but instead of the editor I thought that a head teacher message would be more suitable for my magazine. Also, with there now being houses in my school, I decided to add the house badges in the magazine, which I could develop by adding different pages for the houses in the magazine. I have a clear house colour and style too which I stick to on both pages.

Having looked at my front cover, I have decided to analysis the language I used and did not use.
What I used - Assonance.
                      - Declarative.
                      - Personal pronoun.

What I could add - Imperative verb.
                               - Rhetorical question.
                               - Rhyming repetition.
                               - Alliteration.
                               - Intertextuality.
                               - Colloquial language.
                               - Contraction.

After showing my form my mock up cover and contents page, this is the feed back I got from the students Using this, I could take what they said and make the changes I need for my actual magazine front cover and contents page.
